Last Green Line Branch (E Line or Arborway) streetcar arrives at Forest Hills Station.

After the trolley pulls into the station at 1:27 a.m., a “temporary” shutdown of streetcar service on the Green Line Branch from Forest Hills to Heath Street goes into effect. A judge orders the service restored in 2002, but the MBTA appeals the order. Despite another suit by citizens to restore the service, the city begins to pave over the trolley tracks in May 2008. The federal government approves new transit regulations that make it impossible to restore the service on July 31, 2008.
